Negroponte Resort Eretria has been designed with the concept of a contemporary hotel, combined with nature’s marvels and tradition. Respect to the environment and the planet by reducing our ecological footprint is paramount to us. Sustaining and highlighting the natural beauties and the stunning environment of Evia Island are our actions to balance the impact of tourism on our magnificent surrounding landscape.
To achieve it, we base our operations on four different axes:

RECYCLING
Awarded with the Green Key eco-label, we aim to recycle and promote environmental stewardship in our daily operations.
Batteries: There is a special bin for the collection of batteries at the reception.
Light bulbs: There are special bins for the collection of every kind of burned-out light bulbs
Materials: Customers of Negroponte Resort Eretria can be a part of our scheme of recycling waste based on their material – paper, plastic, aluminum, glass. In central parts of the hotel and outdoors, there are bins for the collection of such materials.
Electrical and electronic devices: In collaboration with a certified recycling agent, we collect and send all the materials to be recycled.
Cooking greases and oils: In collaboration with a certified agent, we recycle all the greases and oils used in the kitchens of our hotel.
Returned bottles: Where possible we use returned glass bottles for refreshment and mineral water in restaurants.
ENHANCING POSITIVE IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY TO OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY
We are committed to offering a responsible relationship with the natural environment and local community while also creating a place where people feel comfortable, healthy and inspired.
Support of local/Greek market, serving food and beverages coming the most possible from small local farms, family producers and local firms, therefore helping the local economy.
Frequent training and information sessions to our staff to educate and build eco and bio awareness among and put into practice eco – friendly behavior.
Hire personnel mostly from the local community.
Compost we use cut braunches, grass and leaves to produce natural compost to fertilize the hotel’s gardens.
Smoking is forbidden on all hotel premises as well as rooms.

Use photocell taps in all public restrooms to stop the flow of the water when there is no need for it.
Double flow toilet flush in all hotel WC.
In every bathroom there are wall mounted certified soap dispensers installed in order to minimize the amount of water needed for rinsing.
Wash on demand program for room linen and towels saving water, energy and reducing the use of detergent.
Water and energy saving information signs near all the taps used by the staff.
Water softening treatment to assure maximum efficiency of the detergents and of the washing machines.
State-of-the-art glass and dish washing machines with heat recovery consuming the minimum amount of energy and detergents.
All the cleaning products are eco-labelled and are produced from biodegradable sources.
Shampoo and soap dispensers in all rooms allowing the decrease in usage of individual plastic bottles. The environmentally friendly composition of the soap with less glycerin ensures the minimum amount of water for rinsing.
ECO label detergents and cleaning products in Housekeeping and food & beverage outlets.
Filter the frying oil daily with Vito® filter systems, ensuring the longer life span of oils thus diminishing oil usageuseage.
Decrease of frying oil usage in the kitchen for frying by using state-of-the-art ovens.
Reusable plastic caps at the beach and the pool.
Water fountain in public areas to reduce the usage of single use plastic water bottles.
Paper packaging for food delivery on the beach and swimming pool.
WWF against food waste information posters in all the food and beverage outlets.
SAVING ENERGY REDUCTION OF THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF OUR HOTEL
Negroponte provides guests with a comfortable, luxurious experience while using both simple and state-of-the-art technology to help reduce water and energy use.
General light switch activating the electricity in the room.
Magnetic contacts at the windows of the rooms that switch off the a/c as soon as they open.
Mosquito nets in all rooms permit natural refreshment limiting the use of a/c.
Mini bars with A++ energy class
LED technology lighting in all guestrooms, indoor and outdoor public spaces.
Motion detector in public WC, corridors and staff hallways.
Warm domestic water is heated up by solar panels (60%) and by natural gas (40%).
The heating of the water at the indoor pool is provided by solar panels and heat pump.
The heating of the hotel is provided by latest technology heat pumps saving up to 60% energy comparing to the traditional heating systems.
The cooling of the hotel uses geothermal technology for maximum energy saving.
Inverter technology in machinery is used to meet supply and demand minimizing the waste of energy.
Regular insulation maintenance guarantees minimum energy waste.
